The farmstead in the eyes of the brethren

The farmstead is an integral part of St. Elizabeth convent. It is an oasis in the sea of sin, where by God’s Providence men come and begin their walk towards salvation. At first, of course, they are saved physically, because people come here who are sick and crippled by the world. People come who for years never worked anywhere and here they find work, shelter and hope for the future. They begin to see that others depend on their help and support. People rejected by the world become needed here. And that is very important. Some arrive practically dead, needed by nobody, cared for by nobody, whom nobody remembers, but at the farmstead they acquire a second birth, like a resurrection, and continue to live.

— What can I say about myself? All that I have said is a reference to myself. In the world there were rises and falls. Many things occurred in life, but I ended up without a family, without shelter, without work. There was no meaning to life and I didn’t care to live any longer. Coming to the farmstead, I received a new life, hope for salvation, both in this life and life eternal.

— I came to the convent at that moment, when I was completely alone and was drinking and all that. Now it is a joy to realize that I am needed by people and what we are doing is important to others. I like my work. At first it was very difficult to pray, just to stand was difficult. Time passes and you begin to understand what it is all for, and gradually you pull yourself into a normal life.

— Now I am involved in construction. It turns out that only two construction workers remain. We try to work together. People come to the farmstead and leave, many do not like this kind of life because they do not wish to live with God.
